Blogs in a classroom is a great idea for not only the students but for the parents as well. I found a blog on a second grade classroom where the teachers posts "Home Learning" assignments for the students. These assignments go with what they are learning in the classroom. The latest one is to write down a diary of how they have eaten for the week, and how they have stayed fit this year. I think that any writing is good practice for students. Blogs like these are good practice for our students when it comes to writing. The best part is that the students will not even realize that they are gaining skills by doing this!

Oh wow, I really like that idea of home learning assignments. I wonder though, if all the students have access to the internet. It may be so for this classroom, but it might be hard to create this kind of assignment if all the students do not have access to the internet. Don't you think? I completely agree with you that is is good writing practice. It's one of those non-threatening ways of writing Mrs. Guerra was talking about.
